Type the World, a typing game built on the real world map, announced with a demo out now
Tampere, Finland — September 2, 2026. Groundpoint Games today announced Type the World, a typing game that teaches ten-finger touch typing on a physical keyboard using the countries, capitals, cities, rivers and other geographical features of the real world. A free demo is available now on Steam.
The demo covers the European continent and includes both game modes: Type the World, the map mode, and Keyboard Trainer, a focused practice mode. The full game will expand to the whole world with 2,000 locations.
Type the World is built for kids and adults alike, with no typing experience required. It ships in seven languages with matching keyboard layouts (EFIGS, Finnish, Swedish).
“I’ve watched my kids struggle using a physical keyboard effectively, and I’m not sure about their grasp of geography either. I’m sure a lot of parents can relate. I made Type the World to help change that,” says Jaakko Maaniemi, founder of Groundpoint Games.
The demo is available now on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4948880/Type_the_World_Demo/
The full game releases on October 28th, 2026 at $11.99 USD / €12.99 EUR / £10.99 GBP with a 10 % launch week discount: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4906690/Type_the_World/
